HMRC offers SMEs advice on Twitter
HM Revenue & Customs is giving businesses interactive help with their tax affairs for the first time.
There will be a week of Twitter Q&A sessions for SMEs, and those looking into setting one up, as part of plans to simplify the tax process and make it fairer.
HMRC experts will be accessing the social network to impart advice over VAT registration, keeping records, National Insurance and PAYE real time information.
To get involved with the sessions beginning on February 25, bosses are being urged to follow @HMRCgovuk on Twitter and prepare questions with the #biztaxhelp hashtag.
David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, labelled SMEs as the "life blood" of the economy and said the Government body is determined to help businesses understand the tax system.
"This interactive week will offer support and help to new and growing businesses in an innovative way," he added.
Any self-employed workers or sole traders can access further information about starting and running a business in Britain if they visit www.gov.uk/browse/business.
